How to use hair color cream at home

Do a skin test before coloring your hair

Hair color creams contain certain chemical ingredients. Some hair color creams will inevitably land on your scalp during the process of coloring your hair. Therefore, it is best to do an allergy test on the skin first to prevent skin irritation. This is done by applying a small amount of hair color directly to the neck or behind the ears and observing the skin for any unusual reactions. If there is no discomfort, only then start coloring your hair.

Mixing hair color creams

Usually, there are two dyes in a 1:1 ratio, so mix the two dyes, stir well, and add 2-4 drops of essential oil. The oil will moisturize and nourish the hair. Use the oil with hair color to reduce the damage caused by the hair color cream.

Hair coloring

Once you have mixed your hair color cream, wear disposable gloves to prevent it from falling onto your hands. Generally, start at the roots and use a large hairpin to hold any excess hair before applying the cream with a comb. Be careful not to apply directly to the scalp, but keep a distance of 3mm from the scalp. Use the comb to apply the coloring cream evenly from top to bottom and then observe if the hair is fully coated. Where it is not applied, reapply the hair coloring cream to ensure that each hair is well colored.

Wait for

After all the hair has been applied, leave it on for 15-20 minutes before washing it with water. Note that the maximum waiting time should not exceed 30 minutes. Coarse hair is more difficult to absorb than fine hair, so you can wait slightly longer. While waiting, use a hairdryer to blow-dry your hair, which will help the hair scales to open more quickly, thus speeding up the coloring process.

Washing

When washing the hair color cream, still wear gloves. Start by rinsing with water, taking care not to overheat the water as this can burn the scalp and affect the color of the hair. It is best to rinse the hair color cream with warm water and do not use shampoo afterward. Otherwise, the color will easily fall out. However, the use of conditioner is essential to maintain the hair and make it smooth. This is especially true for hair that has just been permed and dyed and needs to be conditioned.
